Velas são uma representação destrutiva da passagem do tempo. Aqui, velas brancas de aniversário queimam, espaçadas irregularmente uma da outra. Os pavios equilibrados entre eles começam na base de uma vela e sobem até o topo da próxima. A queima cria uma imagem sequencial — que se assemelha a uma espécie de gráfico eletrocardiograma, movimento de uma maré ou uma serrilhado.
    Há um jogo de percepção aqui, a estrutura está definida e parece que uma reação em cadeia previsível se seguirá, mas quando o trabalho é ativado, o sistema não funciona como esperávamos. Há uma estranha sensação de tempo, ao comparar o tempo de consumo da vela e do pavio, sua placidez e, ao mesmo tempo, sua explosão agressiva.
    A vela também tem sido utilizada como uma metáfora para a morte, simultaneamente velas de aniversário também são usadas todos os anos para celebrar nosso nascimento. Ao adicionar o pavio à vela para criar esta estrutura, pode-se refletir sobre a vida e a morte de uma maneira diferente. Vemos a vida quase como uma linha do tempo, uma sequência linear, mas muitas vezes não percebemos seu tempo, porque é uma condição pré-existente da vivência. Criamos conceitos e lembretes que estruturam o tempo, de modo a delinear essa passagem, mas o que é, e o que conceituamos tem a interferência disruptiva de nossa própria mente, que nos engana a partir da racionalidade


    Candles are a destructive representation of the passage of time. Here, white birthday candles burn, spaced irregularly from one another. The wicks balanced between them start from the bottom of a candle and climb upwards to the top of the next. The burning creates a sequential image - that resembles a kind of graph-electrocardiogram, the movement of a tide or a serrated edge.
    The work progresses as follows: a match is lit and the first candle of the chain melts in about 15 minutes, and, when it reaches the end of the candle, the flame ignites the positioned wick, or possibly not. As soon as it is lit, it is quickly consumed, and does not light the next candle, leaving a burn mark. The work is reactivated by hand until the chain ends.
    There is a play on perception here, the structure is clearly set and it looks like a predictable chain reaction will follow, but when the work is activated the system doesn't work as we expected. There is a strange sensation of time, when comparing the time of consumption of the candle and the wick, its placidity and at the same time its aggressive explosion.
    The candle has also been used as a metaphor for death in art, simultaneously birthday candles are also used every year to celebrate our birth. When adding the wick to the candle to create this structure, one can reflect about life and death in a different way. We see life almost as a time-line, a linear sequence, but we often don’t perceive its time, because it is a pre-existing condition for being alive. We create concepts and reminders that give structure to time, so as to delineate this passage, but what it is and what we conceptualize has the disruptive interference of our own mind, that tricks us into rationality.
